I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the evening of Arafah. When the sun set, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set off, and when he heard the loud commotion of the people behind him, he said, "Easy now, people. Be calm, for righteousness is not in haste."Whenever the crowd pressed in around him, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would urge his mount on at a brisk pace, and whenever he found an opening, he would let it run faster, until he passed by the mountain pass where many people claim he prayed. He stopped there and relieved himself, not as they say "poured out water." Then I brought him the water vessel and he performed ablution.I said, "The prayer, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "The prayer is ahead of you."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mounted and did not pray until he reached Muzdalifa. There he dismounted and combined the two prayers, Maghrib and Isha.
حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق حدثني هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
كنت رديف رسول الله ﷺ عشية عرفة قال فلما وقعت الشمس دفع رسول الله ﷺ فلما سمع حطمة الناس خلفه قال رويدا أيها الناس عليكم السكينة فإن البر ليس بالإيضاع قال فكان رسول الله ﷺ إذا التحم عليه الناس أعنق وإذا وجد فرجة نص حتى مر بالشعب الذي يزعم كثير من الناس أنه صلى فيه فنزل به فبال ما يقول أهراق الماء كما يقولون ثم جئته بالإداوة فتوضأ ثم قال قلت الصلاة يا رسول الله قال فقال الصلاة أمامك قال فركب رسول الله ﷺ وما صلى حتى أتى المزدلفة فنزل بها فجمع بين الصلاتين المغرب والعشاء الآخرة
