Kurayb reported,

He asked Usama bin Zayd, saying, "Tell me how you all acted on the evening when you rode behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."Usama replied, "We came to the valley where people usually halt their camels for the sunset prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made his camel kneel, then he relieved himself," meaning he poured out water. "Then he called for water for ablution and performed a light ablution."I said, "Messenger of Allah, the prayer?"He said, "The prayer lies ahead of you."So he mounted and rode on until he reached Muzdalifa, where he performed the sunset prayer. The people then made their camels kneel at their stopping places, but they did not unload until he had performed the night prayer. After he prayed, the people unloaded their belongings.I said, "How did you act when morning came?"He said, "Fadl bin Abbas rode behind him, while I set off on foot among the runners of Quraysh."

أنه سأل أسامة بن زيد قال قلت أخبرني كيف صنعتم عشية ردفت رسول الله ﷺ قال جئنا الشعب الذي ينيخ فيه الناس للمغرب فأناخ رسول الله ﷺ ناقته ثم بال ماء قال أهراق الماء ثم دعا بالوضوء فتوضأ وضوءا ليس بالبالغ جدا قال قلت يا رسول الله الصلاة قال الصلاة أمامك قال فركب حتى قدم المزدلفة فأقام المغرب ثم أناخ الناس في منازلهم ولم يحلوا حتى أقام العشاء فصلى ثم حل الناس قال فقلت كيف فعلتم حين أصبحتم قال ردفه الفضل بن عباس وانطلقت أنا في سباق قريش على رجلي
