I asked Saeed bin Musayab about the hyena, and he disapproved of eating it. I said to him, "Your people eat it."He replied, "They do not know any better."A man who was present said, "I heard Abu Darda narrate from the Prophet ﷺ that he forbade every animal that snatches by force, every animal that grabs and runs off with prey, and every fanged beast of prey."Saeed said, "He has spoken the truth."

سألت سعيد بن المسيب عن الضبع فكرهها فقلت له إن قومك يأكلونه قال لا يعلمون فقال رجل عنده سمعت أبا الدرداء يحدث عن النبي ﷺ أنه نهى عن كل ذي نهبة وكل ذي خطفة وكل ذي ناب من السباع قال سعيد صدق
