The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were it not that I would impose hardship upon my community, I would have ordered them to use the tooth-stick before every prayer."Zayd used to go to the mosque with his tooth-stick resting on his ear in the place where a scribe keeps his pen. Whenever a prayer was about to begin, he would not let it pass without using it before praying.

قال رسول الله ﷺ لولا أن أشق على أمتي لأمرتهم بالسواك عند كل صلاة قال فكان زيد يروح إلى المسجد وسواكه على أذنه بموضع قلم الكاتب ما تقام صلاة إلا استاك قبل أن يصلي
