A man from the tribe of Ashja, one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, died on the day of Khaybar. This was reported to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Pray over your companion."The faces of the people changed at this, so he said, "Your companion misappropriated something from the spoils taken in the cause of Allah."We then searched his belongings and found some beads from the beads of the Jews not worth even two dirhams.
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن يحيى بن سعيد بن حيان عن محمد بن يحيى عن أبي عمرة
أن رجلا من أشجع من أصحاب النبي ﷺ توفي يوم خيبر فذكر ذلك للنبي ﷺ فقال صلوا على صاحبكم فتغير وجوه الناس من ذلك فقال إن صاحبكم غل في سبيل الله ففتشنا متاعه فوجدنا خرزا من خرز يهود ما يساوي درهمين
