When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Madinah, I was taken to the Prophet ﷺ, and he was pleased with me.The people said, "Messenger of Allah, this is a boy from the Banu Najjar, and he has memorized some ten or more surahs of what Allah has revealed to you."This delighted the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Zayd, learn the writing of the Jews for me, for by Allah, I do not trust the Jews with my correspondence."Zayd said, "So I learned their script, and not fifteen nights had passed before I had mastered it. I used to read their letters to him when they wrote to him, and I would write his replies for him."
حدثنا سريج بن النعمان حدثنا ابن أبي الزناد عن أبيه عن خارجة بن زيد عن زيد بن ثابت قال أتى رسول الله ﷺ مقدمه المدينة فذكر نحوه
