Abu Dharr reported,

I had wanted to meet him, so when I met him I said to him, "Abu Dharr, a hadith has reached me from you, and I had wanted to meet you to ask you about it."He said, "You have met me, so ask."I said, "It has reached me that you say you heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'There are three whom Allah loves and three whom Allah hates.'"He said, "Yes, and I do not think I would lie about my dear friend Muhammad ﷺ," repeating it three times.I said, "Who are the three whom Allah loves?"He said, "A man who fought in the cause of Allah and met the enemy as a striving warrior seeking reward, fighting until he was killed. You find this in the Book of Allah , 'Indeed, Allah loves those who fight in His cause in ranks' [Saff 61:4]. And a man who has a neighbor who harms him, yet he endures his harm patiently, seeking reward, until Allah relieves him of him through death or life. And a man who is with a company of travelers who journey on until exhaustion or drowsiness becomes hard upon them, so they camp at the end of the night, but he rises for his ablution and his prayer."I said, "Who are the three whom Allah hates?"He said, "The boastful, arrogant one, and you find this in the Book of Allah , 'Indeed, Allah does not love any arrogant boaster' [Luqman 31:18]. And the miser who reminds others of his favors. And the merchant or trader who swears oaths constantly."I said, "Abu Dharr, what is wealth?"He said, "A small flock for us, and a few camels," meaning by "flock" a modest number of sheep.I said, "I am not asking about this. I am only asking you about hoarded wealth."He said, "What I have at morning does not last till evening, and what I have at evening does not last till morning."I said, "Abu Dharr, what is the matter between you and your brothers of Quraysh?"He said, "By Allah, I will not ask them for any worldly thing, nor will I seek their rulings on the religion of Allah , until I meet Allah and His Messenger," repeating it three times.

حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا الأسود بن شيبان عن يزيد أبي العلاء عن مطرف بن عبد الله بن الشخير قال بلغني

عن أبي ذر

حديث فكنت أحب أن ألقاه فلقيته فقلت له يا أبا ذر بلغني عنك حديث فكنت أحب أن ألقاك فأسألك عنه فقال قد لقيت فاسأل قال قلت بلغني أنك تقول سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول ثلاثة يحبهم الله عز وجل وثلاثة يبغضهم الله عز وجل قال نعم فما أخالني أكذب على خليلي محمد ﷺ ثلاثا يقولها قال قلت من الثلاثة الذين يحبهم الله عز وجل قال رجل غزا في سبيل الله فلقي العدو مجاهدا محتسبا فقاتل حتى قتل وأنتم تجدون في كتاب الله عز وجل {إن الله يحب الذين يقاتلون في سبيله صفا} ورجل له جار يؤذيه فيصبر على أذاه ويحتسبه حتى يكفيه الله إياه بموت أو حياة ورجل يكون مع قوم فيسيرون حتى يشق عليهم الكرى أو النعاس فينزلون في آخر الليل فيقوم إلى وضوئه وصلاته قال قلت من الثلاثة الذين يبغضهم الله قال الفخور المختال وأنتم تجدون في كتاب الله عز وجل {إن الله لا يحب كل مختال فخور} والبخيل المنان والتاجر والبياع الحلاف قال قلت يا أبا ذر ما المال قال فرق لنا وذود يعني بالفرق غنما يسيرة قال قلت لست عن هذا أسأل إنما أسألك عن صامت المال قال ما أصبح لا أمسى وما أمسى لا أصبح قال قلت يا أبا ذر ما لك ولإخوتك قريش قال والله لا أسألهم دنيا ولا أستفتيهم عن دين الله تبارك وتعالى حتى ألقى الله ورسوله ثلاثا يقولها
