We fasted Ramadan with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he did not lead us in any night prayer during the month until seven nights remained. Then he led us in prayer until about a third of the night had passed. He did not stand with us on the fourth night, but he led us on the night that followed until about half the night had passed.We said, "Messenger of Allah, what if you led us in voluntary prayer for the rest of this night of ours?"He replied, "When a man prays with the imam until he finishes, the rest of his night is recorded for him as if he prayed it."Then he did not lead us on the sixth night, but he led us on the seventh. He sent for his family, and the people gathered, and he led us in prayer until we feared we would miss the falah.I asked, "What is the falah?"He said, "The pre-dawn meal."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا سفيان عن داود بن أبي هند عن الوليد بن عبد الرحمن الجرشي عن جبير بن نفير الحضرمي
صمنا مع رسول الله ﷺ رمضان فلم يقم بنا شيئا من الشهر حتى بقي سبع فقام بنا حتى ذهب نحو من ثلث الليل ثم لم يقم بنا الليلة الرابعة وقام بنا الليلة التي تليها حتى ذهب نحو من شطر الليل قال فقلنا يا رسول الله لو نفلتنا بقية ليلتنا هذه قال إن الرجل إذا قام مع الإمام حتى ينصرف حسب له بقية ليلته ثم لم يقم بنا السادسة وقام بنا السابعة وقال وبعث إلى أهله واجتمع الناس فقام بنا حتى خشينا أن يفوتنا الفلاح قال قلت وما الفلاح قال السحور
