Someone said to Abu Dharr, when he was exiled from Syria, and the narrator mentioned the hadith, in which he asked, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ use to shake hands with you whenever you met him?"Abu Dharr replied, "I never met him without him shaking my hand."

لأبي ذر حين سير من الشام فذكر الحديث وقال فيه هل كان رسول الله ﷺ يصافحكم إذا لقيتموه فقال ما لقيته قط إلا صافحني
