I arrived in Madinah, and while I was sitting in a circle that included a group of Quraysh, a man came and spoke. So I followed him until he sat down beside a pillar, and I said to him, "It seemed to me that those people disliked what you said to them."He replied, "My dear friend Abu Qasim ﷺ once called me and said, 'Abu Dharr.'I answered him, and he asked, 'Do you see Uhud?'I looked at the sunlight still resting on it, thinking he was about to send me on some errand, and I said, 'I see it.'He said, 'It would not please me to own gold the like of it and spend all of it, except for three dinars.'"

قدمت المدينة فبينا أنا في حلقة فيها ملأ من قريش إذ جاء رجل فذكر الحديث فاتبعته حتى جلس إلى سارية فقلت ما رأيت هؤلاء إلا كرهوا ما قلت لهم فقال إن خليلي أبا القاسم ﷺ دعاني فقال يا أبا ذر فأجبته فقال هل ترى أحدا فنظرت ما عليه من الشمس وأنا أظنه يبعثني في حاجة فقلت أراه قال ما يسرني أن لي مثله ذهبا أنفقه كله إلا ثلاثة الدنانير
