My beloved friend ﷺ commanded me with seven things.He commanded me to love the poor and to be close to them.He commanded me to look at those who are below me and not to look at those who are above me.He commanded me to maintain ties of kinship even when relatives turn away.He commanded me not to ask anyone for anything.He commanded me to speak the truth even if it be bitter.He commanded me not to fear, for the sake of Allah, the blame of any blamer.And he commanded me to say often, "There is no power and no strength except through Allah," for these words are from a treasure beneath the Throne.
حدثنا عفان حدثنا سلام أبو المنذر عن محمد بن واسع عن عبد الله بن الصامت
أمرني خليلي ﷺ بسبع أمرني بحب المساكين والدنو منهم وأمرني أن أنظر إلى من هو دوني ولا أنظر إلى من هو فوقي وأمرني أن أصل الرحم وإن أدبرت وأمرني أن لا أسأل أحدا شيئا وأمرني أن أقول بالحق وإن كان مرا وأمرني أن لا أخاف في الله لومة لائم وأمرني أن أكثر من قول لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله فإنهن من كنز تحت العرش
Its isnad is sahih. Nasai narrated it in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla, no. 354. Haythami said 3/93, "I think Ahmad narrated it," and he declared it daif based on the route through Tabarani, and likewise Munziri, 1/580, attributed it to Ahmad, with the wording that follows at 21409, which is the same isnad, and it is not daif. He mentioned it from Shaybi, but it is not from Shaybi.As we can see, there is nothing objectionable in the hadith's isnad, except for some remarks concerning Salam bin Abu Sulayman, Abu Mundhir the grammarian, the Quran reciter. However, Ibn Main approved of him in the narration of Ibn Abu Khaythama, as did Bukhari, and Ibn Hibban deemed him trustworthy. As for Muhammad bin Wasi, he is a reliable narrator among the most distinguished, and his hadith appears in Muslim. The same applies to Abdullah bin Samit, the well-known successor.
