Ubayy bin Kaab reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me as a collector of zakat to the tribes of Bali, Udhrah, and all of Banu Saad, and Hudhaym bin Qudaah. My father said that Yaqub said in another place, "from Qudaah."He said, "I collected the zakat from them until I came to the last man among them, whose dwelling and homeland were among the closest of their dwellings to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Medina. When he gathered his wealth before me, I found that he owed nothing on it except a one-year-old female camel."So I informed him that this was his obligatory charity. He said, "That is a camel that gives no milk and cannot be ridden. By Allah, no Messenger of Allah ﷺ nor any envoy of his has ever come to assess my wealth before you, and I would not lend to Allah تبارك وتعالى from my property an animal that gives no milk and cannot be ridden. But here is a young, fat she-camel, take her instead."I said to him, "I cannot take what I have not been ordered to take. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is nearby. If you wish to go to him and present to him what you have presented to me, then do so. If he accepts it from you, he accepts it, and if he returns it to you, he returns it."He said, "Then I will do so."He set out with me, taking along the she-camel he had offered me, until we reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.He said to him, "Prophet of Allah, your envoy came to me to take from me the zakat on my wealth. By Allah, no Messenger of Allah ﷺ nor any envoy of his has ever come to assess my wealth before him. So I gathered my wealth for him, and he claimed that I owe a one-year-old female camel, but that is a camel that gives no milk and cannot be ridden. I offered him a young, fat she-camel to take, but he refused. Here she is, I have brought her to you, Messenger of Allah, take her."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "That one-year-old camel is what you owe. But if you offer something better voluntarily, we will accept it from you, and Allah will reward you for it."He said, "Here she is, Messenger of Allah, I have brought her to you, so take her."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then ordered that she be taken, and he prayed for blessing in his wealth.
