Ubayy bin Kaab reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray facing a palm trunk back when the mosque was made of palm branches, and he would deliver sermons to the people beside that trunk.A man from among his companions said, "Messenger of Allah, would you allow me to make for you a pulpit on which you can stand on Fridays so that the people can see you while you give the sermon?"He replied, "Yes."So the man made for him three steps, which are the ones on the pulpit. When the pulpit was completed and placed in the spot where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had it set, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ decided to stand upon that pulpit. He walked toward it, and when he passed by the trunk against which he used to lean and stand while preaching, the trunk moaned toward him until it cracked and split open. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard the sound of the trunk, he came down, stroked it with his hand, then returned to the pulpit. After that, whenever he prayed, he would still incline toward the trunk.Tufayl said, when the mosque was demolished and changed, his father Ubayy bin Kaab took that trunk and kept it at his house until it decayed, was consumed by the earth, and turned to dust.

حدثنا سعيد بن أبي الربيع السمان أخبرني سعيد بن سلمة بن أبي الحسام المديني حدثنا عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل بن أبي طالب

عن الطفيل بن أبي عن أبيه قال

كان رسول الله ﷺ يصلي إلى جذع إذ كان المسجد عريشا وكان يخطب الناس إلى جانب ذلك الجذع فقال رجل من أصحابه يا رسول الله هل لك أن أجعل لك منبرا تقوم عليه يوم الجمعة حتى يرى الناس خطبتك قال نعم فصنع له ثلاث درجات هي التي على المنبر فلما قضي المنبر ووضع في موضعه الذي وضعه فيه رسول الله ﷺ بدا لرسول الله ﷺ أن يقوم على ذلك المنبر فمر إليه فلما أن جاوز الجذع الذي كان يخطب إليه ويقوم إليه خار إليه ذلك الجذع حتى تصدع وانشق فنزل رسول الله ﷺ لما سمع صوت الجذع فمسحه بيده ثم رجع إلى المنبر وكان إذا صلى مع ذلك مال إلى الجذع يقول الطفيل فلما هدم المسجد وغير أخذ أبوه أبي بن كعب ذلك الجذع فكان عنده في بيته حتى بلي وأكلته الأرض وعاد رفاتا
