The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the noon prayer surahs like "By the night when it covers" [Layl 92:1], in the afternoon prayer something similar, and in the morning prayer something longer than that.
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي حدثنا شعبة عن سماك
كان رسول الله ﷺ يقرأ في الظهر والليل إذا يغشى وفي العصر نحو ذلك وفي الصبح أطول من ذلك
