The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command us to fast on Ashura, urge us to observe it, and check on us regarding it. But when the fast of Ramadan was made obligatory, he no longer commanded us to fast it, nor forbade us from it, nor checked on us regarding it.
حدثنا هاشم بن القاسم حدثنا شيبان أراه عن أشعث عن جعفر بن أبي ثور
كان رسول الله ﷺ يأمرنا بصيام عاشوراء ويحثنا عليه ويتعاهدنا عنده فلما فرض رمضان لم يأمرنا ولم ينهنا عنه ولم يتعاهدنا عنده
