The Prophet ﷺ said, "For a man to discipline his child, or for one of you to discipline his child, is better for him than giving half a saa in charity every day."Abdullah said, "My father did not include this hadith in his Musnad because of Nasih, since he is weak in hadith. He dictated it to me among the rare narrations."
Its chain of transmission is daif, because of Nasih bin Abdullah Abu Abdullah, known as al-Haik, whose errors were numerous and so they abandoned him. Abdullah himself acknowledged that his father did not grade it daif in the Musnad because of this Nasih. Hakim graded it sahih in 4/263, but Dhahabi disagreed with him. Tirmidhi said in 4/337, number 1951, that it is gharib.
