A man from among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ was wounded, and the wound caused him great pain. He crawled to some sharp arrowheads and slaughtered himself with them. The Prophet ﷺ did not perform the funeral prayer over him and said, "All of this was discipline from him."This is how Abdullah bin Amir dictated it to us from his book, and I do not think this addition, his statement "that was discipline from him," is anything other than the words of Sharik.
حدثنا عبد الله حدثنا عبد الله بن عامر بن زرارة حدثنا شريك عن سماك
أن رجلا من أصحاب النبي ﷺ جرح فآذته الجراحة فدب إلى مشاقص فذبح به نفسه فلم يصل عليه النبي ﷺ وقال كل ذلك أدب منه هكذا أملاه علينا عبد الله بن عامر من كتابه ولا أحسب هذه الزيادة إلا من قول شريك قوله ذلك أدب منه
