The muezzin of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would call the adhan, then wait without giving the iqamah. When he saw that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had come out, he would call the iqamah for the prayer the moment he saw him.
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا إسرائيل قال أخبرني سماك أنه سمع
كان مؤذن رسول الله ﷺ يؤذن ثم يمهل فلا يقيم حتى إذا رأى رسول الله ﷺ قد خرج أقام الصلاة حين يراه
