An old man sat with us in the place of Ayub and heard the people conversing. He said, "My master narrated to me from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."I asked, "What is his name?"He replied, "Qurra bin Damus al-Numayri."He said, I came to Madinah and went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while people were gathered around him. I tried to draw near to him but could not, so I called out, "Messenger of Allah, ask forgiveness for the Numayri lad."He said, "May Allah forgive you."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Dahhak bin Qays as a collector of zakat. When he returned, he came back with the choicest camels. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "You went to Hilal bin Amir, Numayr bin Amir, and Amir bin Rabia, and took the best of their wealth?"He said, "Messenger of Allah, I heard you mention military expeditions, and I wanted to bring you camels that you could ride and use to carry loads."The Prophet said, "By Allah, what you left behind is more beloved to me than what you took. Return them, and take their charity from the lesser portions of their wealth."He said, I heard the Muslims calling those camels "the aged ones, the strivers."

Its isnad is daif, due to the anonymity of the narrator who reported from Qurra bin Damus. Haythami said likewise in 3/82, "The rest of its men are trustworthy." Tabarani related the hadith in this manner in al-Kabir 19/34, no. 71, and Bayhaqi in 4/102.
