Aaiz bin Amr, who Yazid noted was among the righteous companions of the Prophet ﷺ, entered upon Ubaydullah bin Ziyad and said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The worst of shepherds is the harsh oppressor.'"Abdul-Rahman said, "I think he added, 'Beware of being one of them.'" But Yazid did not express any doubt about this addition.Ubaydullah replied, "Sit down. You are nothing but the chaff among the companions of Muhammad ﷺ."Aaiz answered, "Was there any chaff among them, or in their ranks? The chaff came only after them and among others."

دخل عائذ بن عمرو قال يزيد وكان من صالحي أصحاب النبي ﷺ على عبيد الله بن زياد فقال إني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول شر الرعاء الحطمة قال عبد الرحمن فأظنه قال إياك أن تكون منهم ولم يشك يزيد فقال اجلس إنما أنت من نخالة أصحاب محمد ﷺ قال وهل كانت لهم أو فيهم نخالة إنما كانت النخالة بعدهم وفي غيرهم
