A man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ used to narrate to people, and when the crowd grew large, he would climb onto the roof of a house and narrate to them from there.He said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Which verse in the Quran is the greatest?"A man replied, "Allah, there is no god but He, the Living, the Self-Sustaining" [Baqarah 2:255].He said, "He then placed his hand between my shoulders, and I felt its coolness between my breasts," or he said, "He placed his hand between my breasts, and I felt its coolness between my shoulders."He said, "May this knowledge bring you joy, Abu Mundhir, this knowledge."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا عثمان بن غياث قال سمعت
كان رجل من أصحاب النبي ﷺ يحدث الناس حتى يكثر عليه فيصعد على ظهر بيت فيحدث الناس قال قال رسول الله ﷺ أي آية في القرآن أعظم قال فقال رجل {الله لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم} قال فوضع يده بين كتفي قال فوجدت بردها بين ثديي أو قال فوضع يده بين ثديي فوجدت بردها بين كتفي قال يهنك يا أبا المنذر العلم العلم

Its chain of transmission is sahih. Muslim narrated it with similar wording from Ubayy bin Kaab, 1/556, no. 810, in the chapter on travelers, on the merit of Surah Kahf. Abu Dawud narrated it, 2/73, no. 1460, in the chapter on Witr, regarding the verse of the throne. Munziri attributed it to all of these in al-Targheeb, 2/375, and along with them, Ibn Abu Shayba.
