A man reported,

A man, while in the state of ihram, made his camel step on an ostrich's nest and broke the eggs. He went to Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, and asked him about it.Ali said to him, "For each egg, you owe an unborn camel fetus or the mating of a she-camel."The man then went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned this to him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Ali has said what you heard, but come to the easier ruling. For each egg, you must fast a day or feed a poor person."

عن رجل من الأنصار

أن رجلا أوطأ بعيره أدحي نعام وهو محرم فكسر بيضها فانطلق إلى علي رضي الله تعالى عنه فسأله عن ذلك فقال له علي عليك بكل بيضة جنين ناقة أو ضراب ناقة فانطلق إلى رسول الله ﷺ فذكر ذلك له فقال رسول الله ﷺ قد قال علي بما سمعت ولكن هلم إلى الرخصة عليك بكل بيضة صوم أو إطعام مسكين
