Some of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ reported that a group of riders came to the Prophet ﷺ and testified that they had sighted it the previous day, meaning the crescent moon. So he ordered them to break their fast and to go out the following day. Shuba said, "I think he meant at the end of the day."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن أبي بشر
من أصحاب النبي ﷺ أنه جاء ركب إلى النبي ﷺ فشهدوا أنهم رأوه بالأمس يعنون الهلال فأمرهم أن يفطروا وأن يخرجوا من الغد قال شعبة أراه من آخر النهار
