The Prophet ﷺ recited Surah al-Fath while on his mount during his journey in the year of the Conquest. On another occasion he said, Surah al-Fath was revealed to him while he was on a journey, and he began reciting it on his mount, repeating the recitation in a melodious tone.Muawiya then said, "Were it not that I dislike having people gather around me, I would have imitated his recitation for you."
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا شعبة عن معاوية بن قرة قال سمعت
قرأ النبي ﷺ عام الفتح في مسيره سورة الفتح على راحلته وقال مرة نزلت سورة الفتح وهو في مسير له فجعل يقرأ وهو على راحلته قال فرجع فيها قال فقال معاوية لولا أن أكره أن يجتمع الناس علي لحكيت لكم قراءته
Its isnad is sahih. It is found in Muslim 1/547, no. 794, in the chapter on the prayer of the traveler, mentioning the recitation of the Prophet ﷺ, and with similar wording in Bukhari 8/13, no. 4281, and Abu Dawud 2/75, no. 1467.
