The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There will be tribulations, then more tribulations. Behold, the one who walks during them is better than the one who hastens toward them. Behold, the one who sits during them is better than the one who stands. Behold, the one who lies down is better than the one who sits. Behold, when they descend, whoever has sheep should join his sheep, whoever has land should join his land, and whoever has camels should join his camels."A man from the people said, "Prophet of Allah, may Allah make me your ransom, what about one who has no sheep, no land, and no camels, what should he do?"He replied, "Let him take his sword, head to a rock with it, beat its edge with a stone, then escape if he can. O Allah, have I conveyed the message? O Allah, have I conveyed the message?"Then a man said, "Prophet of Allah, may Allah make me your ransom, what if someone seizes my hand by force and drags me to one of the two ranks or one of the two factions," Uthman is uncertain which, "and a man strikes me with his sword and kills me, what will become of me?"He answered, "He will bear your sin and his own, and he will be among the people of the Fire."
حدثنا روح حدثنا عثمان الشحام حدثنا
عن رسول الله ﷺ أنه قال إنها ستكون فتن ثم تكون فتن ألا فالماشي فيها خير من الساعي إليها ألا والقاعد فيها خير من القائم فيها ألا والمضطجع فيها خير من القاعد ألا فإذا نزلت فمن كانت له غنم فليلحق بغنمه ألا ومن كانت له أرض فليلحق بأرضه ألا ومن كانت له إبل فليلحق بإبله فقال رجل من القوم يا نبي الله جعلني الله فداءك أرأيت من ليست له غنم ولا أرض ولا إبل كيف يصنع قال ليأخذ سيفه ثم ليعمد به إلى صخرة ثم ليدق على حده بحجر ثم لينج إن استطاع النجاء اللهم هل بلغت اللهم هل بلغت إذ قال رجل يا نبي الله جعلني الله فداءك أرأيت إن أخذ بيدي مكرها حتى ينطلق بي إلى أحد الصفين أو إحدى الفئتين عثمان يشك فيجذفني رجل بسيفه فيقتلني ماذا يكون من شأني قال يبوء بإثمك وإثمه ويكون من أصحاب النار
