Abu Bakra reported,

He told them that he witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing on his mule when they brought a pregnant woman and said, "She has committed adultery or fornication, so stone her."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Conceal yourself with the covering of Allah ."So she went back. Then they came a second time while the Prophet ﷺ was on his mule, and they said, "Stone her, Prophet of Allah."He said, "Conceal yourself with the covering of Allah ."So she went back. Then they came a third time while he was standing, until she took hold of the bridle of his mule and said, "I implore you by Allah, will you not stone her?"He said, "Go until you give birth."So she went off and gave birth to a boy. Then she came and spoke to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said to her, "Go and purify yourself from the blood."So she went, and then she came to the Prophet ﷺ and said that she had become pure. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent some women and ordered them to verify the woman's condition. They came and testified before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that she was pure. He then ordered a pit to be dug for her up to her chest. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came along with the Muslims, and the Prophet ﷺ took a pebble the size of a chickpea and threw it at her. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned aside and said to the Muslims, "Stone her, but avoid her face."When she had expired, he ordered her body to be taken out, and he prayed over her. Then he said, "If her repentance were divided among the people of the Hijaz, it would be enough for them all."

حدثهم أنه شهد رسول الله ﷺ على بغلته واقفا إذ جاءوا بامرأة حبلى فقالت إنها زنت أو بغت فارجمها فقال لها رسول الله ﷺ استتري بستر الله عز وجل فرجعت ثم جاءت الثانية والنبي ﷺ على بغلته فقالت ارجمها يا نبي الله فقال استتري بستر الله تبارك وتعالى فرجعت ثم جاءت الثالثة وهو واقف حتى أخذت بلجام بغلته فقالت أنشدك الله ألا رجمتها فقال اذهبي حتى تلدي فانطلقت فولدت غلاما ثم جاءت فكلمت رسول الله ﷺ ثم قال لها اذهبي فتطهري من الدم فانطلقت ثم أتت النبي ﷺ فقالت إنها قد تطهرت فأرسل رسول الله ﷺ نسوة فأمرهن أن يستبرئن المرأة فجئن وشهدن عند رسول الله ﷺ بطهرها فأمر لها بحفيرة إلى ثندوتها ثم جاء رسول الله ﷺ والمسلمون فأخذ النبي ﷺ حصاة مثل الحمصة فرماها ثم مال رسول الله ﷺ وقال للمسلمين ارموها وإياكم ووجهها فلما طفئت أمر بإخراجها فصلى عليها ثم قال لو قسم أجرها بين أهل الحجاز وسعهم
