The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever leaves snakes alone out of fear of pursuing them is not one of us. We have not made peace with them since we declared war against them."
قال حدثنا ابن نمير حدثنا موسى بن مسلم الطحان الصغير قال سمعت عكرمة يرفع الحديث فيما أرى إلى
قال رسول الله ﷺ من ترك الحيات مخافة طلبهن فليس منا ما سالمناهن منذ حاربناهن
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Dawud related it (4:534-535) from Uthman bin Abu Shayba, from Abdullah bin Numayr. In his commentary on it, Munziri said, Musa bin Muslim did not assert definitively, when narrating from Ikrima, that Ikrima had attributed it to the Prophet. Something similar will come later (3254) by way of Ayub, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, who said, I only know of it as having been attributed to the Prophet. See also 3255.
