Hasan Basri reported,

Maqil bin Yasar fell gravely ill, and Ubaydullah bin Ziyad came in to visit him. Ubaydullah asked, "Do you know, Maqil, whether I have ever shed blood unlawfully?"Maqil replied, "Not that I know of."Ubaydullah asked, "Do you know whether I have ever interfered in the prices of the Muslims?"Maqil replied, "Not that I know of."Then Maqil said, "Sit me up." Once they had done so, he said, "Listen, Ubaydullah, while I tell you something I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not just once or twice. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever interferes in the prices of the Muslims in order to drive them up against them, it is a right upon Allah to seat him on a great mass of fire on the Day of Resurrection.'"Ubaydullah asked, "You yourself heard this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"Maqil answered, "Yes, more than once or twice."

عن الحسن قال

ثقل معقل بن يسار فدخل إليه عبيد الله بن زياد يعوده فقال هل تعلم يا معقل أني سفكت دما قال ما علمت قال هل تعلم أني دخلت في شيء من أسعار المسلمين قال ما علمت قال أجلسوني ثم قال اسمع يا عبيد الله حتى أحدثك شيئا لم أسمعه من رسول الله ﷺ مرة ولا مرتين سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من دخل في شيء من أسعار المسلمين ليغليه عليهم فإن حقا على الله تبارك وتعالى أن يقعده بعظم من النار يوم القيامة قال أأنت سمعته من رسول الله ﷺ قال نعم غير مرة ولا مرتين
