Thalaba bin Abbad Abdi reported,

I once attended a sermon delivered by Samura bin Jundab in which he related a hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said:While a young man from the Ansar and I were shooting at two targets of ours during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the sun, when it was the height of two or three spears in the eye of the beholder, grew dark until it became like the tinnumah plant. One of us said to the other, "Let us go to the mosque, for by Allah, the state of this sun will surely cause the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to announce some new matter to his community."So we hurried to the mosque, and there he was, already coming out. We met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ just as he was going out to the people. He stepped forward and led us in prayer, standing for as long as he had ever stood with us in any prayer, and we could not hear his voice. Then he bowed for as long as he had ever bowed with us in any prayer, and we could not hear his voice. Then he did the same in the second cycle, and the sun's clearing coincided with his sitting in the second cycle.Zuhayr said, I think he said that he then gave the closing salutation, praised Allah and glorified Him, bore witness that he was the servant and messenger of Allah, and then said, "People, I adjure you by Allah, if you know that I have fallen short in delivering any of the messages of my Lord , inform me of that, so that I may convey the messages of my Lord as they ought to be conveyed. And if you know that I have delivered the messages of my Lord, then inform me of that."Some men stood and said, "We bear witness that you have delivered the messages of your Lord, given sincere counsel to your community, and fulfilled what was due from you." Then they fell silent.Then he said, "To proceed, there are men who claim that the eclipse of this sun, the eclipse of this moon, and the displacement of these stars from their risings occur because of the death of great men from the people of the earth. They have lied. Rather, these are signs among the signs of Allah by which He admonishes His servants, so that He may see who among them turns to Him in repentance. By Allah, since I stood to pray, I have seen what you will encounter in the matter of your worldly life and your hereafter.By Allah, the Hour will not come until thirty liars emerge, the last of them being the one-eyed Dajjal, his left eye wiped out, as if it were the eye of Abu Yahya," referring to an old man from the Ansar who at that time was between him and the chamber of Ayesha, may Allah be pleased with her. "When he comes out, he will claim that he is Allah. Whoever believes in him, affirms him, and follows him, no righteous deed of his that came before will benefit him. Whoever disbelieves in him and denies him will not be punished for any of his past deeds." Hasan al-Ashyab said, "for any of his past evil deeds.""He will appear over all the earth except the Sanctuary and Bayt al-Maqdis. He will besiege the believers in Bayt al-Maqdis, and they will be shaken with a severe shaking. Then Allah will destroy him and his armies, until the very stump of the wall," or he said, "the base of the wall," and Hasan al-Ashyab said, "the base of the tree, will call out," or he said, "will say, 'Believer,'" or he said, "'Muslim, here is a Jew,'" or he said, "'here is an unbeliever, come and kill him.'That will not happen until you see matters whose gravity will weigh heavily upon you, and you will ask one another whether your Prophet had mentioned anything of them to you, and until mountains are removed from their places. Then, after that, the seizing will come."I then attended another sermon by Samura in which he related this hadith, and he did not place a single word before or after its proper position.

حدثنا أبو كامل حدثنا زهير حدثنا الأسود بن قيس

حدثنا ثعلبة بن عباد العبدي من أهل البصرة قال

شهدت يوما خطبة لسمرة بن جندب فذكر في خطبته حديثا عن رسول الله ﷺ فقال بينا أنا وغلام من الأنصار نرمي في غرضين لنا على عهد رسول الله ﷺ حتى إذا كانت الشمس قيد رمحين أو ثلاثة في عين الناظر اسودت حتى آضت كأنها تنومة قال فقال أحدنا لصاحبه انطلق بنا إلى المسجد فوالله ليحدثن شأن هذه الشمس لرسول الله ﷺ في أمته حدثا قال فدفعنا إلى المسجد فإذا هو بارز قال ووافقنا رسول الله ﷺ حين خرج إلى الناس فاستقدم فقام بنا كأطول ما قام بنا في صلاة قط لا نسمع له صوتا ثم ركع كأطول ما ركع بنا في صلاة قط لا نسمع له صوتا ثم فعل في الركعة الثانية مثل ذلك فوافق تجلي الشمس جلوسه في الركعة الثانية قال زهير حسبته قال فسلم فحمد الله وأثنى عليه وشهد أنه عبد الله ورسوله ثم قال أيها الناس أنشدكم بالله إن كنتم تعلمون أني قصرت عن شيء من تبليغ رسالات ربي عز وجل لما أخبرتموني ذاك فبلغت رسالات ربي كما ينبغي لها أن تبلغ وإن كنتم تعلمون أني بلغت رسالات ربي لما أخبرتموني ذاك قال فقام رجال فقالوا نشهد أنك قد بلغت رسالات ربك ونصحت لأمتك وقضيت الذي عليك ثم سكتوا ثم قال أما بعد فإن رجالا يزعمون أن كسوف هذه الشمس وكسوف هذا القمر وزوال هذه النجوم عن مطالعها لموت رجال عظماء من أهل الأرض وإنهم قد كذبوا ولكنها آيات من آيات الله تبارك وتعالى يعتبر بها عباده فينظر من يحدث له منهم توبة وايم الله لقد رأيت منذ قمت أصلي ما أنتم لاقون في أمر دنياكم وآخرتكم وإنه والله لا تقوم الساعة حتى يخرج ثلاثون كذابا آخرهم الأعور الدجال ممسوح العين اليسرى كأنها عين أبي يحيى لشيخ حينئذ من الأنصار بينه وبين حجرة عائشة رضي الله تعالى عنها وإنها متى يخرج أو قال متى ما يخرج فإنه سوف يزعم أنه الله فمن آمن به وصدقه واتبعه لم ينفعه صالح من عمله سلف ومن كفر به وكذبه لم يعاقب بشيء من عمله وقال حسن الأشيب بسيئ من عمله سلف وإنه سيظهر أو قال سوف يظهر على الأرض كلها إلا الحرم وبيت المقدس وإنه يحصر المؤمنين في بيت المقدس فيزلزلون زلزالا شديدا ثم يهلكه الله تبارك وتعالى وجنوده حتى إن جذم الحائط أو قال أصل الحائط وقال حسن الأشيب وأصل الشجرة لينادي أو قال يقول يا مؤمن أو قال يا مسلم هذا يهودي أو قال هذا كافر تعال فاقتله قال ولن يكون ذلك كذلك حتى تروا أمورا يتفاقم شأنها في أنفسكم وتساءلون بينكم هل كان نبيكم ذكر لكم منها ذكرا وحتى تزول جبال على مراتبها ثم على أثر ذلك القبض قال ثم شهدت خطبة لسمرة ذكر فيها هذا الحديث فما قدم كلمة ولا أخرها عن موضعها
