Samura bin Jundab reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to ask his companions, "Has any of you seen a dream?" Then whoever Allah willed would relate his dream to him.One morning he said to us, "Two figures came to me last night and roused me from sleep, then they said to me, 'Set out,' so I set out with them. We came upon a man lying down with another standing over him holding a large rock. The standing man would hurl the rock down upon his head, crushing it. The rock would then roll away, and he would go after it to retrieve it, but by the time he returned, the man's head had healed and become whole again. Then he would do to him exactly what he had done the first time."The Prophet ﷺ said, "I asked, 'Glory be to Allah, who are these two?' The two said to me, 'Move on, move on.'So we moved on, and came upon a man lying flat on his back, with another standing over him holding an iron hook. He would approach one side of his face and tear his jaw apart all the way back to the nape of his neck, then his nostril back to the nape of his neck, then his eye back to the nape of his neck. Then he would turn to the other side and do to it the same as he had done to the first side. By the time he finished with that side, the first side had healed and become whole again. Then he would return and do to it just as he had done the first time.I asked, 'Glory be to Allah, who are these two?' The two said to me, 'Move on, move on.'So we moved on, and came upon something built like an oven."Awf said, "I think he said, 'And inside it was clamor and voices.'"The Prophet ﷺ continued, "I peered inside, and there were naked men and women, with flames coming up at them from below. When the flames reached them, they would shriek and cry out.I asked, 'Who are these people?' The two said to me, 'Move on, move on.'So we moved on, and came upon a river," I think he said, "red like blood. In the river was a man swimming, and at the bank was a man who had collected stones beside him. The swimmer would swim toward him, then open his mouth, and the other would feed him a stone. He would swim away, swimming as much as he could, then return to him. Each time he returned, the man would open his mouth and feed him another stone.I asked, 'Who is this?' The two said to me, 'Move on, move on.'So we moved on, and came upon a man of hideous appearance, the most repulsive man you could ever see, beside a fire he was kindling and running around.I asked them, 'Who is this?' The two said to me, 'Move on, move on.'So we moved on, and came upon a verdant meadow filled with every kind of spring blossom. In the middle of the meadow stood a tall man, so tall I could scarcely see his head reaching into the sky. Around him were more children than I had ever seen, the most beautiful of children.I asked them, 'Who is this, and who are these?' The two said to me, 'Move on, move on.'So we moved on, until we came to a massive tree, the greatest and most beautiful tree I had ever seen.The two said to me, 'Climb it.' So we climbed up into it, and I came to a city built of bricks of gold and bricks of silver. We came to the gate of the city and asked for it to be opened. It was opened for us, and we entered. We met men there, half of whose bodies were as beautiful as anything you could ever see, and the other half as ugly as anything you could ever see.The two said to those men, 'Go and plunge into that river.' There was a small flowing stream nearby, its water as white as pure milk. They went and plunged into it, then returned to us, and that ugliness had left them. They had become the most beautiful in form.The two said to me, 'This is the Garden of Eden, and that there is your dwelling.' My gaze rose upward, and there was a palace like a white cloud.The two said to me, 'That is your dwelling.'I said to them, 'May Allah bless you both. Let me go and enter it.'They said, 'Not yet, but you shall enter it.'I said, 'Truly I have seen wonders this night. What is the meaning of all that I have seen?'They said, 'We will inform you.As for the first man you came upon, whose head was being crushed with a stone, he is a man who takes up the Quran but rejects it, and sleeps through the obligatory prayers.As for the man whose jaw, eye, and nostril were being torn back to the nape of his neck, he is a man who leaves his house in the morning and tells lies that spread to the far horizons.As for the naked men and women in the structure built like an oven, they are the male and female fornicators.As for the man swimming in the river and being fed stones, he is the consumer of usury.As for the man of hideous appearance beside the fire, kindling it, he is Malik, the keeper of Hellfire.As for the tall man you saw in the meadow, he is Ibrahim . As for the children around him, they are every child who died upon the natural disposition.'"Some of the Muslims asked, "Messenger of Allah, even the children of the polytheists?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes, even the children of the polytheists.'As for the people half of whom were beautiful and half ugly, they are people who mixed righteous deeds with others that were evil, but Allah has pardoned them.'"

سمرة بن جندب الفزاري قال

كان رسول الله ﷺ مما يقول لأصحابه هل رأى أحد منكم رؤيا قال فيقص عليه من شاء الله أن يقص قال وإنه قال لنا ذات غداة إنه أتاني الليلة آتيان وإنهما ابتعثاني وإنهما قالا لي انطلق وإني انطلقت معهما وإنا أتينا على رجل مضطجع وإذا آخر قائم عليه بصخرة وإذا هو يهوي عليه بالصخرة لرأسه فيثلغ بها رأسه فيتدهده الحجر هاهنا فيتبع الحجر يأخذه فما يرجع إليه حتى يصح رأسه كما كان ثم يعود عليه فيفعل به مثل ما فعل المرة الأولى قال قلت سبحان الله ما هذان قال قالا لي انطلق انطلق فانطلقت معهما فأتينا على رجل مستلق لقفاه وإذا آخر قائم عليه بكلوب من حديد وإذا هو يأتي أحد شقي وجهه فيشرشر شدقه إلى قفاه ومنخراه إلى قفاه وعيناه إلى قفاه قال ثم يتحول إلى الجانب الآخر فيفعل به مثل ما فعل بالجانب الأول فما يفرغ من ذلك الجانب حتى يصح الأول كما كان ثم يعود فيفعل به مثل ما فعل به المرة الأولى قال قلت سبحان الله ما هذان قال قالا لي انطلق انطلق قال فانطلقنا فأتينا على مثل بناء التنور قال عوف وأحسب أنه قال وإذا فيه لغط وأصوات قال فاطلعت فإذا فيه رجال ونساء عراة وإذا هم يأتيهم لهيب من أسفل منهم فإذا أتاهم ذلك اللهب ضوضوا قال قلت ما هؤلاء قال قالا لي انطلق انطلق قال فانطلقنا فأتينا على نهر حسبت أنه قال أحمر مثل الدم وإذا في النهر رجل يسبح ثم يأتي ذلك الرجل الذي قد جمع الحجارة فيفغر له فاه فيلقمه حجرا حجرا قال فينطلق فيسبح ما يسبح ثم يرجع إليه كلما رجع إليه فغر له فاه وألقمه حجرا قال قلت ما هذا قال قالا لي انطلق انطلق فانطلقنا فأتينا على رجل كريه المرآة كأكره ما أنت راء رجلا مرآة فإذا هو عند نار له يحشها ويسعى حولها قال قلت لهما ما هذا قال قالا لي انطلق انطلق قال فانطلقنا فأتينا على روضة معشبة فيها من كل نور الربيع قال وإذا بين ظهراني الروضة رجل قائم طويل لا أكاد أن أرى رأسه طولا في السماء وإذا حول الرجل من أكثر ولدان رأيتهم قط وأحسنه قال قلت لهما ما هذا وما هؤلاء قال قالا لي انطلق انطلق قال فانطلقنا فانتهينا إلى دوحة عظيمة لم أر دوحة قط أعظم منها ولا أحسن قال فقالا لي ارق فيها فارتقينا فيها فانتهيت إلى مدينة مبنية بلبن ذهب ولبن فضة فأتينا باب المدينة فاستفتحنا ففتح لنا فدخلنا فلقينا فيها رجالا شطر من خلقهم كأحسن ما أنت راء وشطر كأقبح ما أنت راء قال فقالا لهم اذهبوا فقعوا في ذلك النهر فإذا نهر صغير معترض يجري كأنما هو المحض في البياض قال فذهبوا فوقعوا فيه ثم رجعوا إلينا وقد ذهب ذلك السوء عنهم وصاروا في أحسن صورة قال فقالا لي هذه جنة عدن وهذاك منزلك قال فبينما بصري صعدا فإذا قصر مثل الربابة البيضاء قالا لي هذاك منزلك قال قلت لهما بارك الله فيكما ذراني فلأدخله قال قالا لي الآن فلا وأنت داخله قال فإني رأيت منذ الليلة عجبا فما هذا الذي رأيت قال قالا لي أما إنا سنخبرك أما الرجل الأول الذي أتيت عليه يثلغ رأسه بالحجر فإنه رجل يأخذ القرآن فيرفضه وينام عن الصلوات المكتوبة وأما الرجل الذي أتيت عليه يشرشر شدقه إلى قفاه وعيناه إلى قفاه ومنخراه إلى قفاه فإنه الرجل يغدو من بيته فيكذب الكذبة تبلغ الآفاق وأما الرجال والنساء العراة الذين في بناء مثل بناء التنور فإنهم الزناة والزواني وأما الرجل الذي يسبح في النهر ويلقم الحجارة فإنه آكل الربا وأما الرجل الكريه المرآة الذي عند النار يحشها فإنه مالك خازن جهنم وأما الرجل الطويل الذي رأيت في الروضة فإنه إبراهيم عليه السلام وأما الولدان الذين حوله فكل مولود مات على الفطرة قال فقال بعض المسلمين يا رسول الله وأولاد المشركين فقال رسول الله ﷺ وأولاد المشركين وأما القوم الذين كان شطر منهم حسنا وشطر قبيحا فإنهم خلطوا عملا صالحا وآخر سيئا فتجاوز الله عنهم
