Muawiya bin Hayda reported,

A man stood before the Prophet ﷺ and said, "On what charge were my neighbors arrested?" The Prophet ﷺ turned away from him. Then the man said again, "Tell me on what charge they were arrested." The Prophet ﷺ turned away from him once more. The man said, "Since you will not tell me, they are claiming that you forbid wrongdoing yet do it in private."The Prophet ﷺ said nothing in response. Then the man's brother, or his nephew, stood up and said, "Messenger of Allah, he did indeed say that."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "You have said it, or one of you has said it. If I were doing such a thing, the burden would be upon me, not upon you. Release his neighbors to him."
