Muawiya bin Hayda reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that there was a man among those who lived before you whom Allah had blessed abundantly with wealth and children, until one age passed and another came. When death approached him, he said, "My sons, what kind of father have I been to you?"They replied, "The best of fathers."He said, "Will you obey me?"They answered, "Yes."He said, "When I die, see that you burn me until you reduce me to charcoal."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "So they did that. Then he said, 'Crush me in a mortar,'" gesturing with his hand.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Allah, they did that too. Then he said, 'Scatter me in the sea on a windy day, perhaps I may escape Allah .'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Allah, they did that as well. Yet there he was, in the grasp of Allah . Allah said, 'Son of Adam, what made you do what you did?'"He replied, "My Lord, fear of You."So Allah forgave him because of that.

عن حكيم بن معاوية عن أبيه

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إن رجلا كان فيمن كان قبلكم رغسه الله تبارك وتعالى مالا وولدا حتى ذهب عصر وجاء عصر فلما حضرته الوفاة قال أي بني أي أب كنت لكم قالوا خير أب قال فهل أنتم مطيعي قالوا نعم قال انظروا إذا مت أن تحرقوني حتى تدعوني فحما قال رسول الله ﷺ ففعلوا ذلك ثم اهرسوني بالمهراس يومئ بيده قال رسول الله ﷺ ففعلوا والله ذلك ثم اذروني في البحر في يوم ريح لعلي أضل الله تبارك وتعالى قال رسول الله ﷺ ففعلوا والله ذلك فإذا هو في قبضة الله تبارك وتعالى فقال يا ابن آدم ما حملك على ما صنعت قال أي رب مخافتك قال فتلافاه الله تبارك وتعالى بها
