A man freed six of his slaves at the time of his death. His heirs, who were Bedouins, came and informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of what he had done.He asked, "Did he really do that?"Then he said, "Had we known, by Allah's will, we would not have prayed over him."He then drew lots between the slaves, freeing two of them and returning the other four to slavery.
حدثنا يحيى بن حماد حدثنا أبو عوانة عن سماك بن حرب عن الحسن البصري
أن رجلا أعتق عند موته ستة رجلة له فجاء ورثته من الأعراب فأخبروا رسول الله ﷺ بما صنع قال أوفعل ذلك قال لو علمنا إن شاء الله ما صلينا عليه قال فأقرع بينهم فأعتق منهم اثنين ورد أربعة في الرق
