Hasan Basri reported,

Imran bin Husayn passed by a man who was telling stories to an audience for payment. Imran said, "We belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Recite the Quran and ask Allah through it, before a people come who recite it to ask others for compensation.'"

حدثنا مؤمل قال حدثنا سفيان عن الأعمش عن خيثمة ليس فيه

عن الحسن البصري قال

مر عمران بن حصين برجل يقص فقال عمران إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول اقرءوا القرآن وسلوا الله تبارك وتعالى به من قبل أن يجيء قوم يسألون الناس به
