We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey when the verse was revealed, "People, fear your Lord. The earthquake of the Hour is a tremendous thing" [Hajj 22:1].A word fell from Ubayy about his mount, and the people came to a halt.He asked, "Do you know what day that will be?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."A word fell from Ubayy. He said, "Allah will say, 'Adam, send forth the company bound for the Fire.'"Adam will ask, "What is the company of the Fire?"Allah will say, "Out of every thousand, nine hundred and ninety to the Fire."The people wept.He said, "Stay close to the right path and seek to be upright. You are no more among the nations than a small mark on the foreleg of a beast. I truly hope you will be a quarter of the people of Paradise. I truly hope you will be a third of the people of Paradise."
حدثنا سفيان عن ابن جدعان عن الحسن
كنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في سفر فنزلت {يا أيها الناس اتقوا ربكم إن زلزلة الساعة} سقط على أبي كلمة راحلته وقف الناس قال هل تدرون أي يوم ذاك قالوا الله ورسوله أعلم سقطت على أبي كلمة يقول يا آدم ابعث بعث النار قال وما بعث النار قال من كل ألف تسع مائة وتسعين إلى النار قال فبكوا قال قاربوا وسددوا ما أنتم في الأمم إلا كالرقمة إني لأرجو أن تكونوا ربع أهل الجنة إني لأرجو أن تكونوا ثلث أهل الجنة
