Imran bin Husayn reported,

I prayed behind Ali bin Abu Talib a prayer that reminded me of a prayer I had performed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the two caliphs.He said, So I went and prayed with him, and he would say the takbir every time he prostrated and every time he raised his head from prostration.I asked, "Abu Nujayd, who was the first to abandon it?"He replied, "Uthman bin Affan . When he grew old and his voice became weak, he stopped doing it."

عن عمران بن حصين قال

صليت خلف علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه صلاة ذكرني صلاة صليتها مع رسول الله ﷺ والخليفتين قال فانطلقت فصليت معه فإذا هو يكبر كلما سجد وكلما رفع رأسه من السجود فقلت يا أبا نجيد من أول من تركه قال عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه حين كبر وضعف صوته تركه
