The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from cauterization, but we cauterized ourselves anyway, and we neither prospered nor succeeded.
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة ويزيد أخبرنا شعبة عن قتادة عن الحسن
نهانا رسول الله ﷺ عن الكي فاكتوينا فما أفلحنا ولا أنجحنا
Its isnad is sahih. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 4/5, no. 3865, in the chapter on medicine, on cauterization, and Tirmidhi, 4/389, no. 2049, who said, hasan sahih, and Ibn Majah, 2/1155, no. 3490, and Hakim graded it sahih, 4/213, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
