Abdul-Rahman said, A group from Banu Tamim came. Waki said, Banu Tamim came to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "Receive good news, Banu Tamim."They replied, "Messenger of Allah, you have given us good news, so give us something."Abdul-Rahman said, The face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ changed. Then a tribe from Yemen came, and he said, "Accept the good news, since Banu Tamim did not accept it."They said, "Messenger of Allah, we accept it."
حدثنا وكيع وعبد الرحمن عن سفيان عن جامع بن شداد عن صفوان بن محرز
عبد الرحمن جاء نفر من بني تميم قال وكيع جاءت بنو تميم إلى النبي ﷺ فقال أبشروا يا بني تميم قالوا يا رسول الله بشرتنا فأعطنا قال عبد الرحمن فتغير وجه رسول الله ﷺ قال فجاء حي من يمن فقال اقبلوا البشرى إذ لم يقبلها بنو تميم قالوا يا رسول الله قبلنا
Its chain of transmission is sahih. It is found in Bukhari, 5/219, in the Book of Military Expeditions, chapter on the arrival of the Ashariyyin. And in Tirmidhi, 5/732, no. 2951, where he said, hasan sahih, in the Book of Virtues.
