I went with my father to visit Abu Barza al-Aslami, and at that time I had two earrings in my ears, for I was just a boy.Abu Barza said, "I praise Allah that I have come to find fault with this clan of Quraysh. So-and-so over here fights for worldly gain, and so-and-so over here fights for worldly gain," meaning Abdul-Malik bin Marwan. He went on until he mentioned Ibn al-Azraq.Then he said, "Truly, the dearest of people to me are this band with matted hair, whose bellies are empty of the wealth of the Muslims and whose backs are light of their blood."He said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The rulers are from Quraysh, the rulers are from Quraysh, the rulers are from Quraysh. I have a right over them, and they have a right over you, so long as they do three things. When they judge, they are just. When mercy is sought from them, they show mercy. When they make a covenant, they keep it. Whoever among them does not do that, upon him be the curse of Allah, of the angels, and of all mankind."

دخلت مع أبي على أبي برزة الأسلمي وإن في أذني يومئذ لقرطين قال وإني لغلام قال فقال أبو برزة إني أحمد الله أني أصبحت لائما لهذا الحي من قريش فلان هاهنا يقاتل على الدنيا وفلان هاهنا يقاتل على الدنيا يعني عبد الملك بن مروان قال حتى ذكر ابن الأزرق قال ثم قال إن أحب الناس إلي لهذه العصابة الملبدة الخميصة بطونهم من أموال المسلمين والخفيفة ظهورهم من دمائهم قال قال رسول الله ﷺ الأمراء من قريش الأمراء من قريش الأمراء من قريش لي عليهم حق ولهم عليكم حق ما فعلوا ثلاثا ما حكموا فعدلوا واسترحموا فرحموا وعاهدوا فوفوا فمن لم يفعل ذلك منهم فعليه لعنة الله والملائكة والناس أجمعين
