The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Abdullah bin Rawaha out on a military expedition, and it happened to fall on a Friday. He sent his companions ahead and said, "I will stay behind to pray the Friday prayer with the Prophet ﷺ, then catch up with them."When the Prophet ﷺ saw him, he asked, "What kept you from setting out with your companions?"He replied, "I wanted to pray the Friday prayer with you, then catch up with them."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Even if you spent everything on earth, you would not match the merit of their early departure."
حدثنا أبو معاوية حدثنا الحجاج عن الحكم عن مقسم
بعث رسول الله ﷺ عبد الله بن رواحة في سرية فوافق ذلك يوم الجمعة قال فقدم أصحابه وقال أتخلف فأصلي مع النبي ﷺ الجمعة ثم ألحقهم قال فلما رآه ﷺ قال ما منعك أن تغدو مع أصحابك قال فقال أردت أن أصلي معك الجمعة ثم ألحقهم قال فقال رسول الله ﷺ لو أنفقت ما في الأرض ما أدركت غدوتهم
