We came back with Abu Musa from Isfahan. We hurried on, and his wife came along. Abu Musa said, "Is there no young man who will help my daughter-in-law dismount?" He meant the Asharis maidservant.I said, "Yes, I will."So I brought her close to a tree and helped her down, then I came and sat with the people.He said, "Shall I narrate to you a hadith that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to tell us?"We said, "Yes, may Allah have mercy on you."He said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to tell us, "Before the Hour comes there will be al-harj."It was asked, "What is al-harj?"He replied, "Lying and killing."They said, "More than we kill now?"He said, "It is not your killing of the disbelievers, but rather your killing of one another, until a man kills his neighbor, kills his brother, kills his uncle, and kills his cousin."They said, "Glory be to Allah! Even though we still possess our reason?"He said, "No. The minds of the people of that time will be stripped away, until one of you thinks he is upon something when he is upon nothing. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, I fear that those times may overtake me and you, and I find no way out of them for myself or for you, based on what our Prophet ﷺ entrusted to us, except that we leave them as we entered them, having introduced nothing into them."
حدثنا إسماعيل عن يونس عن الحسن أن
أقبلنا مع أبي موسى من أصبهان فتعجلنا وجاءت عقيلة فقال أبو موسى ألا فتى ينزل كنته قال يعني أمة الأشعري فقلت بلى فأدنيتها من شجرة فأنزلتها ثم جئت فقعدت مع القوم فقال ألا أحدثكم حديثا كان رسول الله ﷺ يحدثناه فقلنا بلى يرحمك الله قال كان رسول الله ﷺ يحدثنا أن بين يدي الساعة الهرج قيل وما الهرج قال الكذب والقتل قالوا أكثر مما نقتل الآن قال إنه ليس بقتلكم الكفار ولكنه قتل بعضكم بعضا حتى يقتل الرجل جاره ويقتل أخاه ويقتل عمه ويقتل ابن عمه قالوا سبحان الله ومعنا عقولنا قال لا إلا أنه ينزع عقول أهل ذاك الزمان حتى يحسب أحدكم أنه على شيء وليس على شيء والذي نفس محمد بيده لقد خشيت أن تدركني وإياكم تلك الأمور وما أجد لي ولكم منها مخرجا فيما عهد إلينا نبينا ﷺ إلا أن نخرج منها كما دخلناها لم نحدث فيها شيئا
