Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

Abu Musa sought permission to enter upon Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both. He said it once, twice, three times, then Abu Musa turned back.Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said to him, "You must bring proof for this, or I will deal with you." It was as though he was saying, "I will make you an example throughout the lands."So Abu Musa went off to a gathering where some of the Ansar were present and mentioned the matter to them. He said, "Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When one of you asks permission three times and is not granted it, let him go back'?"They said, "Of course. But none of us will go with you except the youngest among us."So Abu Saeed Khudri rose and went to Umar and said, "This is Abu Saeed," and Umar let him go.

حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن أبي مسلمة عن أبي نضرة

عن أبي سعيد الخدري قال

إن أبا موسى استأذن على عمر رضي الله تعالى عنهما قال واحدة ثنتين ثلاث ثم رجع أبو موسى فقال له عمر رضي الله تعالى عنه لتأتين على هذا ببينة أو لأفعلن قال كأنه يقول أجعلك نكالا في الآفاق فانطلق أبو موسى إلى مجلس فيه الأنصار فذكر ذلك لهم فقال ألم تعلموا أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إذا استأذن أحدكم ثلاثا فلم يؤذن له فليرجع قالوا بلى لا يقوم معك إلا أصغرنا قال فقام أبو سعيد الخدري إلى عمر فقال هذا أبو سعيد فخلى عنه
