Abu Musa asked permission to enter upon Umar three times, but was not granted permission, so he left.Umar then said, "Did I not just hear the voice of Abdullah bin Qays? Call him back."So they sought him out and summoned him.Umar asked him, "What made you do what you did?"He replied, "I asked permission three times and was not granted it, so I left. We were commanded to do this."Umar said, "You must bring me proof of this, or I will deal with you."So Abu Musa went to a mosque, or a gathering, of the Ansar. They said, "None will testify for you except the youngest among us."Then Abu Saeed Khudri stood up and testified for him.Umar said, "This matter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was hidden from me. I was distracted from it by trading in the markets."
حدثنا يحيى هو ابن سعيد عن ابن جريج عن عطاء
أن أبا موسى استأذن على عمر رضي الله تعالى عنه ثلاث مرات فلم يؤذن له فرجع فقال ألم أسمع صوت عبد الله بن قيس آنفا قالوا بلى قال فاطلبوه قال فطلبوه فدعي فقال ما حملك على ما صنعت قال استأذنت ثلاثا فلم يؤذن لي فرجعت كنا نؤمر بهذا فقال لتأتين عليه بالبينة أو لأفعلن قال فأتى مسجدا أو مجلسا للأنصار فقالوا لا يشهد لك إلا أصغرنا فقام أبو سعيد الخدري فشهد له فقال عمر رضي الله تعالى عنه خفي هذا علي من أمر رسول الله ﷺ ألهاني عنه الصفق بالأسواق
