Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

The last hardship the believer faces is death.Regarding His statement, "On the Day when the sky will be like molten metal" [Maarij 70:8], he said it means like the dregs of oil.Regarding His statement, "during the hours of the night", he said it means the depths of the night.He said, "Do you know what the loss of knowledge is?" He said, "It is the departure of the scholars from the earth."

عن ابن عباس قال

آخر شدة يلقاها المؤمن الموت وفي قوله {يوم تكون السماء كالمهل} قال كدردي الزيت وفي قوله {آناء الليل} قال جوف الليل وقال هل تدرون ما ذهاب العلم قال هو ذهاب العلماء من الأرض
