His mother had left a will instructing that a believing slave be freed on her behalf. He asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about this, saying, "I have a black Nubian slave girl. Shall I free her on her behalf?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bring her to me."So I called her, and she came. He asked her, "Who is your Lord?"She replied, "Allah."He asked, "Who am I?"She replied, "You are the Messenger of Allah."He said, "Free her, for she is a believer."
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثنا حماد بن سلمة حدثنا محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة
أن أمه أوصت أن يعتقوا عنها رقبة مؤمنة فسأل رسول الله ﷺ عن ذلك فقال عندي جارية سوداء نوبية فأعتقها عنها فقال ائت بها فدعوتها فجاءت فقال لها من ربك قالت الله قال من أنا قالت أنت رسول الله قال أعتقها فإنها مؤمنة
