He was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ among his companions when a funeral procession came into view. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw it, he rose, and his companions rose with him. They remained standing until the procession had passed.He said, "By Allah, I do not know whether he stood because he was disturbed by it, or because the place was too narrow, and I think it was the funeral of a Jewish man or woman, but we did not ask him ﷺ about why he stood."
حدثنا ابن نمير عن عثمان يعني ابن حكيم عن خارجة بن زيد
أنه كان جالسا مع النبي ﷺ في أصحابه فطلعت جنازة فلما رآها رسول الله ﷺ ثار وثار أصحابه معه فلم يزالوا قياما حتى نفذت قال والله ما أدري من تأذ بها أو من تضايق المكان ولا أحسبها إلا يهوديا أو يهودية وما سألنا عن قيامه ﷺ
