An elderly man came to the Prophet ﷺ, leaning on his staff, and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have committed acts of treachery and immorality. Will I be forgiven?"The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you not bear witness that there is no god but Allah?"The man replied, "Yes, and I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Your acts of treachery and immorality have been forgiven."
حدثنا سريج بن النعمان حدثنا نوح بن قيس عن أشعث بن جابر الحداني عن مكحول

Its isnad is sahih. Ashath bin Jabir Haddani is trustworthy, and his hadith is found in the Four Books. He has been attributed to his grandfather, being Ashath bin Abdullah bin Jabir Haddani. Haythami said in 1/32, "Its narrators are trustworthy," and he doubted whether Makhul heard directly from Amr bin Abasa.
