Ibn Shaddad and Abu Burda sent me, saying, "Go to Ibn Abu Awfa and tell him that Abdullah bin Shaddad and Abu Burda send their greetings of peace, and they ask, 'Did you used to make advance payments during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for wheat, barley, and raisins?'"He replied, "Yes. We used to obtain spoils of war during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so we would make advance payments with them for wheat, barley, dates, and raisins."I asked, "From those who had crops, or from those who did not have crops?"He said, "We did not used to ask them about that."He said, They also told me, "Go to Abdul-Rahman bin Abza and ask him." So I went and asked him, and he said the same as Ibn Abu Awfa had said.He said, This is also how Abu Muawiya narrated it to us from Zaida from Shaybani, who added, "and oil."
