I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the campaign of the Conquest, when I was a young boy, making his way through the people, asking for the house of Khalid bin Walid. A man who had been drinking wine was brought to him, so he ordered that he be punished. The people struck him with whatever they had in their hands. Some struck him with their sandals, some with a stick, and some with a whip, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw dust on him.
