I went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the expedition of Tabuk, and he mentioned the hadith, except that he said, "I kept holding my mount back behind his until sleep overcame me."He asked, "What happened to the dark-skinned, curly-haired, short men?"I replied, "By Allah, I do not recognize any such people among us."He said, "Yes, those who own camels at Shabakat Sharkh."I tried to recall them among Banu Ghifar but could not place them, until I remembered that they were a group from Aslam who were our allies.So I said, "Messenger of Allah, those are a group from Aslam who were our allies."
حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق وذكر ابن شهاب عن ابن أكيمة الليثي عن ابن أخي أبي رهم الغفاري أنه سمع
غزوت مع رسول الله ﷺ غزوة تبوك فذكر الحديث إلا أنه قال فطفقت أؤخر راحلتي عنه حتى غلبتني عيني وقال ما فعل النفر السود الجعاد القصار قال قلت والله ما أعرف هؤلاء منا حتى قال بلى الذين لهم نعم بشبكة شرخ قال فتذكرتهم في بني غفار فلم أذكرهم حتى ذكرت أنهم رهط من أسلم كانوا حلفا فينا فقلت يا رسول الله أولئك رهط من أسلم كانوا حلفاءنا
